Description
Barclays Bank is a bank building located at No. 84 High Street in Princes Risborough. It was built in the late 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. The structure is made of vitreous header brick with red brick quoins and window surrounds. It features wide plastered eaves, a slate roof, and a brick chimney on the left side. The building has two storeys and is originally double-fronted, with tripartite sash windows flanking the central door and a three-pane sash window above. The upper sashes include glazing bars, while the lower ones were replaced in the late 19th century. All windows have gauged brick heads. The central door is flush-panelled and has similar reveals arched over a semi-circular radiating fanlight. The doorcase has been altered and includes fluted pilasters, entablature capitals, and an open pediment. To the right, there is an additional bay that is slightly set back, featuring matching brickwork and a four-pane sash window on the first floor, along with a rebuilt ground floor that has a late 19th to early 20th century tripartite sash window.
