Description
Chalkshire Farmhouse and attached barn date to the late 18th century, with the farmhouse significantly modernised around 1980. The construction combines red and vitreous brick in English bond, with the front of the farmhouse featuring brown brick and red dressings. A chamfered brick plinth and dentil eaves are present. The roof is tiled, with a half-hipped section to the left and an external brick chimney on the right.
The attached barn, situated to the left, has three gabled projections to the front. The central projection contains a cart entry and has a weatherboarded gable. A right projection is incorporated into the house and includes 20th-century barred wooden casements in its right side. The barn’s walls have bands of small, square, chequered vents and the left gable has a round owl-hole with a small ledge underneath. A lower, two-bay extension to the left is partly constructed from flint and brick.
The farmhouse, to the right, has two storeys and two bays with 20th-century paired barred wooden casements. The ground-floor windows have rebuilt segmental heads. A central 20th-century porch features a matching window to the front and a door on the right side.
