Description
Camkins is a house dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick, which has been whitewashed on the front, and features the initials WI in blue headers on the right gable. The rear wing is made of a combination of thin brick and flint. The roof is half-hipped and thatched, with a rendered and whitewashed chimney on the left that has a small oven projection. The house is designed in an L-plan and has one and a half storeys with a two-bay front wing.
The left bay includes three-light leaded casements, with the lower window having board shutters and the upper window partly set into the roof. The right bay features two-light windows with 20th-century leading. There is a central door located in a lean-to porch, which has thatch swept down to create a verandah. An attached weatherboard outbuilding is located to the left. The rear wing has old leaded casements, and there is a 20th-century conservatory in the rear angle.
Inside, the house has a winder stair aligned with the fireplace, curved wind-braces in the roof, old board doors, and 17th-century moulded panel doors.
