Description
Gate Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 17th to early 18th century, with picturesque alterations made in the 19th century and renovations and extensions in the 20th century. The exterior features whitewashed roughcast with some timbering and a half-hipped thatched roof. There are 19th-century brick chimneys with diagonal shafts, two located between the right bays and one between the left bays. The house has one and a half storeys and three bays, with a 20th-century extension on the left. The left bays contain 20th-century barred wooden casements with three or four lights, while the upper storey features casements in thatch. The right bay has a 20th-century three-light leaded casement on the ground floor. A boarded door between the right bays has a pointed arched head and is sheltered by a 20th-century porch with a hipped tile roof supported by wooden posts. The right gable includes a canted bay window with four arched leaded lights, and there is a lean-to structure at the rear.
