Description

Warner’s Cottage is a 17th-century cottage, altered in the 19th century. The external appearance is of whitewashed render, although the right end wall and central truss display timber framing. The front and rear walls were largely rebuilt in brick during the 19th century. The cottage has a thatched roof with raised eaves and chimneys of whitewashed brick. It is two storeys high and two bays wide, featuring leaded casement windows. The ground floor has a 2-light window to the left and 3-light windows elsewhere; the ground-floor windows have segmental heads. A central boarded door is topped by a 20th-century thatched hood. A 19th-century leaded casement window is in a lean-to extension to the left. To the right is a lean-to shed constructed of weatherboard and thatched. Inside, the cottage retains deeply chamfered spine beams and a spiral staircase aligned with the chimney.
