Description
Cobwebs is a house that was originally two cottages, dating from the 17th century and altered around 1870, likely by George Devey. The building is timber framed with brick infill panels, featuring some herringbone patterns, and has rough-cast rendering on the south elevation. It has a tiled roof and a central chimney made of old bricks. The house is two storeys high with an attic and consists of two bays. The entrance door is located opposite the central chimney and is sheltered by an open lean-to tiled porch. To the left of the door, there is a three-light wood casement window, with a similar upper window located below the gable. A small upper window is situated above the porch, and to the right on the ground floor, there is another three-light casement window. The east gable facing the road features a four-light casement window on the ground floor, a four-light window to the left on the first floor, and a two-light attic window. There is an open tiled porch to the right. The rear roofslope includes a swept dormer, a ground floor outshot, and a small 19th-century wing with a hipped gable. Inside, the house boasts a large inglenook fireplace and exposed beams.
