Description

Old Manor is a house that dates back to the 15th or early 16th century, originally built as a hall house and later altered in the 17th century and beyond. It features a timber frame with some plaster infill, but is mostly constructed of 18th and 19th-century brick, which is colourwashed on the north elevation. The building has an old tiled roof with two brick stacks along the ridge and stands two storeys high with an attic.

The house has a three-bay central block, with the two western bays being the former open hall and the eastern bay added in the 17th century. The southwest wing is partly from the 17th century and partly from the 19th century, while the northeast wing, which was formerly a dairy, dates to the 18th century and has a hipped roof.

On the north elevation, there is a porch that appears to be from the 17th century, made of brick with a shallow arched lintel, a gabled roof, and side openings featuring splat balustrades. The entrance has a six-panel door, with three-light casements on each side and two similar windows above. The dairy wing is to the left and has one three-light window, with the roof sweeping down over an open area to the right.

Inside, there is a north post and tiebeam from the former central truss of the open hall, which has a mortice for an arch brace. The house also features a large 17th-century central chimney with an inglenook and a chamfered spine beam in the west room.
