2/1000 Middle Lodges, Southern Lodge

GV II

Southern lodge of a pair of estate lodges. Early C19. Red brick. Pitched roof originally slated but now with corrugated iron; projecting bracketed eaves, those to gable ends returning to appear as broken pediments. 2 storeys 2 windows. Flat arch to entrance with plain plank door. Segmental arch to fictive painted sash to right. First floor with similar but smaller fictive sash above door and blocked window to right. Western facade to road with central round arched shallow recess having a round-arched window with fictive painted radial pattern head (lower portion boarded up). Above, a sash with segmental arch. Eastern facade has central round-arched niche and painted fictive sash above. Interior with original timbers to first floor and roof and stair to upper floor. Attached cast iron railings with spearhead finials and open work box gatepiers and standards; southernmost standard with pineapple finial on scrolled spiggot and coat of arms to rear.
