Description
The Wheatsheaf is a house dating from the 17th century that has been altered and extended. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill, and the left gable has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The thatched roof is complemented by flanking brick chimneys. The building has two storeys and two bays. The left bay includes a 19th-century three-light wooden casement window above a boarded door. The northern front is mostly obscured by two gabled extensions with tiled roofs. The right extension is timber framed with brick infill, all whitewashed, and consists of one storey and an attic. It has a horizontal sliding sash window on the ground floor, two single wooden casement windows on the first floor, and a lean-to with paired casements to the right. The left extension, made of whitewashed brick, is also one storey and features a bay window at the front and an external chimney on the side. There is a small 20th-century extension and porch at the rear. The building was formerly known as The Wheatsheaf Inn.
