Description

Spade Oak Farmhouse is a house, now derelict, with origins in the 17th century. A small, two-bay wing from the 17th century remains at the east end, featuring a large 17th-century chimney and traces of a 17th-century cross wing at the west end. This cross wing is incorporated into an early 19th-century building, with a later 19th-century parallel range extending along the south side. The 17th-century parts are timber-framed with some surviving brick infill, while the remainder is brick. The roofs are tiled, and the chimneys are brick. The north side has irregularly placed window openings and one gabled dormer. The south range is double-fronted, with canted bay windows on either side of the doorway, and three two-light windows on the first floor. These windows have shaped heads to each light. Inside the east wing, the left bay contains a stop-chamfered spine beam with run-out stops.
