Description

Ivy Cottage is a house built around 1870 in the style associated with the Rothschild estate. It features red brick construction, some mock timber framing with brick infill, and a tiled roof that has two large chimneys. The right-hand gable chimney projects and is decorated with bands of blue brick and vertical slits between the shafts, which have oversailing heads. The cottage has a 3-light dormer with a swept roof and is designed as a one-storey building with an attic, along with a two-storey gabled wing on the left-hand side that has a tile-hung first floor, which oversails on exposed beam ends. Each floor of the wing has a 3-light casement window. The roof slopes down to low eaves on the right-hand side, where there is a plain door with a window to the left and a 3-light casement window to the right. Additionally, there is a small lean-to on the left end and a half-octagon projection with timber framing against the right gable wall.
