Description
No. 15 High Street is a house with a 20th-century extension for a post office at the rear. The central bay dates from the 15th century and features the remains of two cruck trusses. It was enlarged and altered in the 17th century, with a timber frame at the rear and rubble stone on the left gable and part of the plinth. The building was refronted in brick, partly in a chequered pattern, during the 18th century. There is an 18th-century extension at the rear that forms a T-plan, along with a 19th-century brick bay on the right. The 20th-century extension and lean-to are located at the rear. The house has a tiled roof and a brick chimney situated between the left-hand bays. It is two storeys tall and consists of three bays. The ground floor features a sash window with a segmental head in the left bay and canted bay windows in the right-hand bays, with the central bay dating from the late 18th to early 19th century and topped with a moulded entablature and a panelled frieze. The first floor has 19th-century wooden casements, with two 2-light windows on the left and two 3-light windows on the right. The entrance, located between the right-hand bays, has a 20th-century ledged door.
