Description

Hartley Court is a building erected in 1874 in Gerrards Cross, built in memory of Sir William Alexander, Bart, and constructed in a Tudor style. The building is red brick with blue brick lozenge patterns, topped with tile roofs featuring pierced ridge tiles. It comprises a central, two-storey gabled core connected by short, single-storey sections to two outer, two-storey gabled terminal blocks. Brick gabled porches and triangular brick porches with castellated parapets are present. The windows have mullions and transoms. The gables are finished with bargeboards, and the building features elaborate Tudor chimneys. Plaques are set into each gable, bearing the inscriptions "Born again made new creatures in Christ Jesus," "Glory to God on high," and "Even to hoar hairs will I carry you."
