Description
Carrholme Cottage is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a cottage. It likely dates from the early 19th century and consists of two builds, with some 20th-century alterations and origins that trace back to the 17th century. The structure is made of squared rubble with painted stone dressings and features a slate roof.
The cottage has a central staircase plan and stands two storeys tall with a double fronted design, where the left-hand bay projects slightly. The central entrance has a plain surround and features a 20th-century plank door with a glazed panel. There are two windows on each storey, all with plain surrounds and sash designs. Above the entrance, there are two mid-17th century decorated stones that display halberd head motifs, which were likely the upper parts of a two-light trefoil headed window. The cottage also has gable end ridge stacks.
