Description
Artlegarth Beck Bridge is a pack-horse bridge built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. The south-east parapet was rebuilt in the late 20th century.
The bridge features a single-span segmental arch that carries a former pack-horse route at a skew of 16 degrees across the Artlegarth Beck. It has split voussoirs beneath low, solid parapets made of limestone rubble, with level limestone blocks serving as coping stones. The south end of the rebuilt south-east parapet is angled and includes a stone with a bench mark that was previously part of an adjacent stone wall. Large cobbles have been noted in the stream bed beneath the bridge.
