Description

Spensley House is a house built around 1820, constructed from well-coursed watershot sandstone with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays, featuring projecting quoins and ashlar surrounds around the openings. The central door has six glazed panels beneath an oblong four-pane fanlight. The house includes sash windows with a sill band on the ground floor. A stone gutter with a classical cornice section projects just to the right of the centre, surrounding a rainwater pipe. The rear elevation features a round-headed landing window with glazing bars and Gothick tracery. The name 'SPENSLEY HOUSE' is carved in good lettering on the quoin on the right return. Inside, there are six-panel doors, three-panel window shutters, simple cornices, and a staircase with square-section balusters and turned newels.
