Description
Winder Cottage (No.9) is a small house, likely built in the mid 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century and recent restoration. The building is constructed of coursed mixed rubble with quoins on the right and has a roof made of large graduated blue slates. No.9, located on the right, features a double-fronted plan that is 1.5 depths, while No.11 on the left is a narrow single-fronted cottage with a single-depth layout.
Both buildings are two storeys tall and have a combination of one and two windows. No.11 is symmetrical, with a square-headed doorway in the center that has a 20th-century part-glazed door, flanked by renewed 6-pane sashed windows on both floors, all featuring exposed boxes and slab sills. No.9 also has a larger doorway with a 20th-century part-glazed door, a similar 6-pane sash window to the left, and another sash window in the center of the upper floor. There is a gable chimney to the right of No.9 and a ridge chimney at the junction of the two buildings. At the rear, No.9 has a single-storey outshut that contains a dog-legged staircase and a small service room. The interior has not been inspected.
