Description
This is a barn located approximately 20 metres north of Ravenseat Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century and constructed in two phases. It is built of drystone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn has large ashlar quoins on the right side and four board doors, some of which are framed in ashlar with impost jambs. There are stone steps leading up to a board hayloft door that has a slab surround. On the right side, there is a rebated ashlar quoined doorway that projects through the stones. It is believed that the barn may incorporate materials from a chapel that once existed at Ravenseat, built by followers of Bernard Ingham, who drew inspiration from Methodist and Moravian traditions. The barn is included for its group value.
