Description

Barden Bridge is a bridge built in 1659, as noted by Pevsner. It is constructed of ashlar and features three large segmental arches with voussoirs and hoodmoulds. Triangular-section cutwaters rise into pedestrian retreats. On the north parapet at the east end, there is an inscription that reads, "this bridge was repayred at the charge of the whole West riding 1676." The bridge is also designated as a scheduled ancient monument in Yorkshire West Riding, number 71.
