Description

Church Bridge is a public road bridge over the River Dee, likely built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed sandstone rubble and features hammer-dressed plinths and voussoirs, along with chiselled coping on the parapets. The bridge has a wide segmental arch made of dressed voussoirs, which springs from broad terminal piers that have stepped plinths. There is a string course along the parapets. The bridge is supported by long ramp abutments on both the east and west sides, with the western abutment containing a low stilted segmental-arched flood sluice beneath it.
