Description
The barn attached to the west end of Birchentree Farmhouse is a small structure, likely built in the 19th century, with a shippon added in the early 20th century. It has a four-bay plan oriented east-west and faces north. The barn features a prominent full-height lean-to shippon that covers all but the left end, which includes a wagon doorway with a wooden lintel and a stone-slate drip-band for protection. There is also a doorway on the side of the shippon, near where it connects to the barn. The rear of the barn displays some through-stones and one opening with rubble voussoirs. Inside, the main range contains three principal-rafter trusses made of softwood from the 19th century. This barn forms a group with the adjoining Birchentree Farmhouse.
