Description
This is a bank barn built in 1879, located at the west end of Uldale House in Ravenstonedale. The barn is constructed from coursed rubble with rock-faced quoins and some through-stones, topped with a slate roof. It has a rectangular plan oriented east-west and faces north, featuring a shippon under the west end.
On the left side of the barn, there is a segmental-headed wagon doorway made with rubble voussoirs, flanked by two blind bulls-eye windows that have rusticated surrounds. A straight ramp leads up to the doorway, protected by rubble side walls. To the right of the ramp, there is a small window for the shippon, along with through-stones arranged on four levels.
The west gable wall also features similar through-stones and includes three shippon doorways with square windows situated between them. At the rear, there is a large lean-to addition. This barn forms a group with the adjoining Uldale House on the left.
