Description

The Green House is a house dating from 1674, with 19th and 20th century restoration and replacement windows. It is constructed of gritstone rubble with a graduated stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has four bays. It features quoins. A 20th-century door is set in a chamfered quoined surround with a three-centred arched head, located in the third bay. The original windows, now replaced, were four lights in bays one and two on the ground floor, and six lights in bays one and two on the ground floor, recessed and chamfered mullioned with hoodmoulds. Remaining windows were rebuilt in the 20th century. A straight dripmould sits above the door, above which is a square stone panel with weathered raised lettering reading “R A R 1674” above the words "DEUS ET/MEUS". It has two-flue stacks to the left end and along the ridge between bays two and three. The roofline is lower over bays three and four.
