Description
The stable block at Marrick Park dates from the mid-19th century and is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and features a central coach-house flanked by stables for carriage horses, accessible from a courtyard. Above the stables are haylofts and bothies for grooms, which can be accessed from the road through the park. The coach-house doorway has a segmental arch made of rubble voussoirs and double boarded doors. There are two stable doorways on each side, each with 6-panelled doors beneath 4-pane fanlights, and three stable windows featuring 16-pane sashes with glazing bars. On the first floor, there is a central opening with a segmental arch of rubble voussoirs that is boarded in, and on each side, there are three small square openings that are shuttered. This building is included partly for its group value context.
