Description

Usha Top is a house dated 1662. It is constructed of coursed watershot sandstone with ashlar dressings and has a stone slate roof. The building has a 2-cell axial stack plan, originally of two storeys, with a later rear outshut added. It features crude quoins. A boarded door is located on the left side and has a chamfered quoined surround, a deep lintel with a triangular soffit, and a panel displaying the date. A secondary doorway with a boarded door has been inserted on the right. There are two ground floor windows. The left window is an unequally-hung sash with glazing bars in a stone surround, with an upturned 3-light mullioned-window lintel acting as the lintel. The right window is a 3-light, now 2-light, chamfered mullioned window with a weather course above. Both first floor windows have unequally-hung sashes with glazing bars; the sill of the left window is a re-used drip mould. A raised coping is present on the left side. Three stacks are visible, located at the ends of the building and a larger one between the two rooms.
