Description
Hill is a farmhouse dated 1681 at the first floor, though it was remodeled in the 19th century and has had additions. It is constructed of white-washed coursed sandstone rubble with a stone slate roof, and a corrugated sheet roof on the addition at the rear. The building has a single-depth, two-unit plan oriented on an east-west axis and faces south, with an added bay at the eastern end and a continuous lean-to addition at the rear.
The exterior features two storeys with a three-to-one window arrangement. The main range has a central doorway with a part-glazed door that is sheltered by a pitched canopy. There are two 6-pane sash windows on the ground floor and three above, which are regularly arranged but slightly offset to the right. A small rectangular datestone with raised lettering "I*T /16 81" is located at the first floor. The added bay to the right contains a 4-pane sash window on each floor. A large extruded chimney with offsets is located at the left gable, with a ridge chimney at the junction and a gable chimney to the right.
At the rear, there is a continuous full-height lean-to outshut with a corrugated sheet roof. The section behind the main range features through-stones and regular openings, including a central porch, two 2-light casements on the ground floor, and three above, along with a tall chimney at the west end. The other portion, which may have served as a stable or store, has one large and one small doorway, as well as a small 6-pane window situated between them. The interior was not inspected.
