EAST TISTED Gardeners Cottage West of the House (Formerly listed as ROTHERFIELD PARK Guest House and Game Store west of the House)

GV II

Great House and game store. Circa 1890, said to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee (of 1887). Flint and stone. A structure built on higher ground to the rear of the mansion, and designed to augment the castle-like appearance of the house (and probably to complement the raised tower of the stable block. Walls of coarse flintwork, with stone parapets of exaggerated crenellation and macrolation, first and second floor stucco bands, windows of small proportion in deep splayed stucco reveals. The living quarters comprise a tall circular tower of four stages, with a higher circular stair turret on the east side: on the west side there is a high arch linking with a slightly lower and narrower square tower (game store) and below the arch a flat-roofed connection.
