Description
Gardeners Cottage, located west of the house, is a Grade II listed building dating from around 1890, believed to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee in 1887. This structure, built on higher ground behind the mansion, is designed to enhance the castle-like appearance of the main house and likely complements the raised tower of the stable block. The walls are made of coarse flintwork, featuring stone parapets with exaggerated crenellation and macrolation. There are stucco bands at the first and second floors, and the windows are small with deep splayed stucco reveals. The living quarters include a tall circular tower with four stages, accompanied by a higher circular stair turret on the east side. On the west side, there is a high arch that connects to a slightly lower and narrower square tower, which serves as the game store, with a flat-roofed connection beneath the arch.
