Description

The gateway at Warnford Park, dating from the mid-19th century, features piers and flanking walls. The piers are constructed with a wall surface of tiny pebbles, and they have quoins made of squared knapped flints, topped with moulded stone caps and plinths, which are crowned with carved stone vases. The lower walls curve from the recessed piers to the roadway and continue along the roadside. The lower section is made of coarse flintwork with a terracotta moulded capping. Piers are placed at intervals and share the same design, featuring stone caps. At the corners where the walls curve towards the road, there are taller rusticated piers, with bands of coarse flintwork alternating with thinner bands of squared knapped flints.
