Description

SU 62 SW WARNFORD 4/9 Abbey House, (Formerly 6.3.67 Kilmore) II House. 1825, built as a Rectory by the Rev. E Lancaster. Walls of brickwork in English bond with some blue headers, red flush dressings; plinth, rubbed flat and round arches (within ground-floor blind arches), parapet with stone coping and deep decorative brick band: stone cills. Mansard hipped tile roof, flat-roofed dormers. Square building of classical form: symmetrical east front of two storeys three windows. Sashes in reveals, with arched heads to the ground-floor. Door- case of the Doric Order, with triglyphs and finely-fluted (top two-thirds) columns, two columns and two pilasters, arched opening with decorative fanlight, architrave, 6-panelled door, above stone steps. The north elevation is symmetrical, with full-height bows at each side, two storeys and attic, 2.2.2 windows, the ground- floor deep casements having narrow side panes. The other elevations are irregular, with similar features and brick dentil eaves, and a large C20 French window at the south side.
