Description
Joan's Acre is a cottage dating from the 16th century, which was remodeled around 1948. It features a timber-frame structure with brick infill and brick extensions, topped with a plain tile roof. The building is two stories high and has two bays of timber-frame with a central smoke bay. There are added projecting wings at each end, with a long wing behind the right bay. The timber-frame remains visible on the first floor. The right bay has a 20th-century Tudor style door, along with late 20th-century three and four-light casements. Above the two casements on the first floor, there is a small eyebrow window. The bays at either end have half-hipped gables with a window on each floor. The roof is half-hipped and features a large multiflued stack at the center in the smoke bay, as well as stacks in the added bays behind the ridge.
