Description
Tanners is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house, originally built in the 17th century, with additions from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame with plaster infill, which is encased in brick, along with brick additions. The roof is covered with plain tiles.
The building consists of a two-bay timber frame with a mid-18th century two-bay block added to one end, an early 19th-century wing added to the other end, and 20th-century bays added to each of the wings in a matching style. There are also outshots added to both sides of the original 17th-century building.
The entrance front has three bays and is two storeys high, sitting above a cellar. The blue header brickwork is notable, as is the 18th-century four-panelled door, which features a moulded doorcase supported by two columns and an open pediment with brackets above. The central bay has an 18th-century 12-pane flush-framed sash window set in a camber-headed arch, while the left bay contains a 20th-century camber-headed single light window. On the first floor, there are two 18th-century 12-pane flush-frame sash windows, and the eaves are adorned with offset dentils. The roof is hipped, with a ridge stack located to the left of the central bays.
