Description

A row of cottages, now a house, was built in the 18th century and remodelled around 1950. The brick house, partly rendered, has an old plain tile roof. The building is U-shaped, with an original five-bay section at its right end featuring a gable to the later 18th-century wing. Two bays were added around 1800 to the left end. A central door is topped by a curved hood, a copy of those at Bramdean House, which incorporates a bullseye window within a stone surround and keystone. Eight 12-pane sash windows in a Georgian style were added around 1950, along with a first-floor string course. To the left is a brick pier, followed by two bays containing 19th-century segmental-headed two-light casements, one with a 20th-century glazed door. The right bay is taller, with larger 18th-century 12-pane sash windows on each floor, featuring rubbed brick heads. The first floor is rendered and has a string course. Roofs are hipped, with higher eaves to the left bay creating a projecting hip. The roof at the left is outshot to the rear. A large ridge stack is located to the left of the door, and a smaller one is to the right.
