Description
The Old Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It has a timber-frame core that is encased in colourwashed brick and features a thatched roof. The cottage originally consisted of two bays with a chimney at the left end. When it was encased in brick, an additional bay was added to the left, along with an outshot to the right. It is 1½ storeys high, with three bays and a lean-to. There is a 19th-century top-glazed door located between the right and centre bays, and another 19th-century door at the right end. The windows are 19th-century two-light casements, with smaller similar windows above them in wide eyebrow dormers. A fire insurance plaque is located to the left of centre. The roof is hipped and features a decorated ridge piece, with a ridge stack situated between the centre and left bays.
