Description

Old Post Cottage is a building that was formerly a post office, dating from the 16th century and late 18th century. It features a timber-frame structure with wattle and daub infill, which is encased in English bond brickwork with blue headers. The cottage is a three-bay timber-frame building that has an outshot at the rear and is attached to an early 19th-century building known as April Cottage on the right end. The entrance door is located in the position of a screens passage to the left of the center bay, featuring a plain 19th-century doorcase beneath a bracketed pedimented hood. The windows are late 18th-century 2-light casements with cambered heads. Above these, there are three hipped dormers, with small 2-light casements on either side of a larger 3-light casement.
