Description
Linchmere Farmhouse is a building that dates back to the 15th century, originally known as Church Farmhouse, though that name now refers to a separate building created from former farm structures. The farmhouse was extended in the 16th and 17th centuries, and it underwent alterations, refacing, and enlargement in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is a timber-framed structure that is now faced with stone and has a tiled roof. The windows are casement style. The south front has seen significant alterations, with the first floor of the westernmost window bay being tile-hung. There is a gabled porch to the east of this bay, followed by a two-storeyed bay that is also tile-hung. To the northeast, there is an L-wing added in the 18th century, featuring two gables. The building has two storeys and four windows. Inside, the former kitchen contains a well that is 150 feet deep, though it is now dry.
