Description

Two cottages stand adjacent to each other, located on Hammer Lane in Linchmere. The western cottage appears to be a 17th century or earlier timber-framed building, with walls built of rubble stone using Hythe sandstone, and featuring a diagonal brace. It has a tiled roof with a pentice behind, and casement windows. The cottage is two storeys high and has two windows. The eastern cottage is an early 19th century addition, constructed of Hythe sandstone rubble with red brick dressings and quoins, and a tiled roof with a pentice behind. It also has casement windows. A modern porch has been added. The eastern cottage is one storey and attic, with two windows and two dormers.
