Description
Basing Dene is a cottage located in Privett, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with 20th-century rear extensions. The walls are constructed of flint with brick quoins, hoodmoulds, and a plinth step, with a small exposure of timber framing on the east side and later work in red brick. The roof is half-hipped thatch, featuring eyebrow dormers and a shafted stack. The timber-framed building has a 17th-century exterior, with a south front elevation that is one storey and an attic high, containing two above four windows. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door set within a timber-framed, half-glazed porch that has a gabled thatch roof.
