Description
Pound House is a former pair of cottages that has been converted into a single dwelling, with a later reading room added to the west end. The building dates from the 17th century and 19th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. The walls are made of flint with brick dressings, featuring quoins and cambered arches on the ground floor. The roof is thatched, with a catslide at the rear. The eaves are raised above the dormers and lowered to create a porch supported by posts. The north front has one storey and an attic, with four windows above five. The windows are casements, and there is a boarded door, while other doorways have been filled in. A small stone on the building is inscribed with the year 1633. The property was formerly known as Nos 70 and 71.
