Description

A pair of cottages, built in 1912, as indicated by the hopperheads designed by Jewell. The cottages are constructed of blue brick with red brick detailing and a stone tile roof. They are two storeys high and eight bays wide, with full-height canted bay windows at each end, each featuring an external projecting stack. Plain pilasters are present at each end of the front elevation, and there’s a plinth at the base. The central entrance has a three-panel door and a three-light rectangular fanlight with interlacing glazing bars, set within a segmental opening topped with a shell hood on moulded brackets. Cross windows with segmental heads are found in the other bays and on the sides of the canted bay windows. The first floor and canted bay windows each contain a two-light casement. The roof is hipped, with the hips extending to the sides of the canted bays, but a ridged roof runs from the hip to the side of the projecting stack. A large, squat central stack is present, as well as end stacks.
