Description

This is a group of 18th-century cottages located on the north side of Sussex Road. They have tiled roofs with a moderately high pitch. The cottages are constructed of Malmstone, galleted with ironstone, with red brick dressings. A brick dentil cornice, featuring multiple planes, runs along the top.

No. 8 has old metal casement windows on the ground floor and wooden sliding sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. A modern door is present. No. 10 features one early 19th-century casement window and one old metal casement with leaded lights on the ground floor; the first floor has wooden sliding sash windows with glazing bars. An old door is present, with a hood supported on cut brackets. No. 12 has all modern casement windows and a modern door. Segmental brick arches are present above the ground-floor windows. Numbers 4 to 12 (even) form a visually cohesive group.
