Description
No 18 on Sussex Road is a 17th-century cottage that was originally L-shaped, featuring a gabled wing that has since been removed. The remaining structure has a rendered wall and a high-pitched tiled roof that is half hipped on the left side. It has an old, narrow brick chimney that it shares with the adjoining No 20. On the right front, there is a brick wall, and the left return shows visible timber framing with malmstone and brick filling. The cottage is two storeys high with one window. There is a wood casement window on the first floor and a modern oriel bay window on the ground floor. The entrance features a plain door set in a stout frame, topped by a heavy, bracketed hood. Nos 14, 18, and 20 together form a group.
