Description
The Lodge is a pair of cottages that serve as the north Lodge to Blackmoor House, dating from the mid-19th century. The walls are made of ashlar malmstone, featuring relieving arches, with Bath stone used for the quoins and cills. The roof is tiled and has a gable above each window, with the southeast side being larger. Each gable has a bargeboard with pierced decoration, and there are large brick stacks resting on tapered stone bases. The cottages are asymmetrical but appear as a single unit, with the front (northeast) elevation being one storey and an attic, containing three windows with casements. An open gabled porch, supported by a timber frame and topped with a tiled roof and bargeboard, leads to a Tudor arch and a recessed entrance, which has doorways on either side. The other elevations maintain a similar style, with the rear featuring two large gables and single-storeyed service wings.
