Description
Nursted House is a house built in the early 18th century, with some minor extensions added in the late 19th century. The walls are made of ashlar malmstone, featuring a stone plinth moulding, plain eared architraves, and coping to the parapet. The building has rusticated brick quoins and a brick dentilled cornice, with some 19th-century brickwork present. It has a hipped slate roof and a symmetrical east front that is two storeys tall with an attic, displaying a configuration of two, three, and two windows, topped by a pediment above the slightly projecting centrepiece. The windows are sashes, while the flat-roofed dormers have casements. The entrance features a wood Doric doorcase with a pediment, mutule boxes, triglyphs, and plain three-quarter columns, leading to a six-panelled door above a short flight of steps. The rear elevation is irregular, with a projection on the north side, cemented walls, and a round-headed staircase window. Inside, there are plain classical features, including an 18th-century fireplace and a plain staircase.
