Description
Lower Chidden Farmhouse is a house dating from the 18th century, with early 19th-century extensions. The older section features brick walls in Flemish bond with blue headers, a plinth, a first-floor band, and rubbed flat arches, with one elevation being tile hung. The later part has brick walls with blue headers and red quoins, along with rubbed arches. Other walls include brickwork in Flemish and Flemish Garden Wall bonds with blue headers and cambered openings. The house has a hipped tile roof with brick dentil eaves. Originally, the old part faced south and had a long rear extension with a double-pile roof. The current west front is primarily from the second phase, with the west end of the old part located at its south side. The building is two storeys high with two windows on the first floor and one window on the ground floor, featuring sashes and one casement. There is an early 19th-century doorcase with a pediment, architrave, and a six-panelled door.
