Description
The Old Grammar School is a school building founded in 1512 and rebuilt in 1851. It is constructed of knapped flint with stock brick quoins and stone window dressings. The roof is plain tiled with gable parapets and kneelers. The building features two gable ends facing the street, with a central square-headed projection. It has three storeys and a three-window front, with tall sash windows set between chamfered mullions, each topped with hood moulds. The second floor has a single light in the centre, flanked by two lights; the first floor has two lights in the centre with three lights on either side; and the ground floor has four lights with a central ribbed door beneath a Tudor-arched moulded surround in a square-headed opening, also with a hood mould above. There is a deep block at the rear.
