Description

The Old Toll Gate is an early 19th-century toll-house. The part facing the road is finished with stucco that is scored to look like masonry. Originally, the first floor overhung, featuring an enriched frieze above, but it has since been underbuilt. The building has two round turrets with a castellated parapet between them and is two storeys high. There is a pointed recess on the first floor and one window below. To the south, there is an L-shaped residential section, likely added later, which is two storeys tall and constructed with flints and red brick, topped with a slate roof and featuring casement windows.
