Description

Longfurlong Barn is a barn with an attached cartshed, built around 1880. The barn is constructed of red brick and consists of seven bays, which are flanked by brick buttresses and feature loop lights. It has a gabled tiled roof with brick coping and kneelers, and includes double cart doors. This barn is particularly notable for its very rare use of laminated roof timbers, which is uncommon in agricultural buildings; only one other example is known on the Arundel estate. The roof structure includes arched braces and a kingpost. Attached to the north is a 19th-century cartshed, also made of red brick and with a tiled roof, which is open fronted and supported by wooden posts.
