Description

This is a tombstone located 12 metres south of the church porch in Buriton, dating from the mid-18th century. The headstone features a carved relief at the top, surrounded by outer scrollwork, depicting an open book and a skull. The inscription on the stone refers to William Hownsham, with a date of 1715, although this date is uncertain.
