Description
Morestead Grove is a rectory that has been converted into a private house, with a date marked 'WJ1836' on a tablet. The building was altered around 1910. It features a main block constructed of flint with brick dressings, which has been rendered. The front of the house has two gables and three bays, with a blank bay on the left side and a wall with a gateway leading to a small courtyard and a service wing at the rear on the right side.
The central front door and the left bay have a single-storey addition from 1910, which includes an open pediment that matches the style of the gables above, a depressed arch, and a four-light transomed steel window to the left. The original door, located in the porch, was originally a wide six-panel design, but the top four panels are now glazed. To the right of the door is a twelve-pane sash window, and above it are three nine-pane sash windows, with the central sash and door positioned below the valley between the gables. The gables are designed to resemble low-pitched double open pediments, with eaves that extend to the right over the blank bay and round the corner to the side gables. The building features wide eaves, plain modillions, and a moulded cornice.
