Description

Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a private house. It has a core dating from the 17th century, was refaced in the early 18th century, and has 19th-century wings added to both sides, with further remodelling in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame encased in brick, topped with a roof of plain and fishscale tiles.

The front of the house is L-shaped, with the right bay displaying early 18th-century brickwork. It is 2½ storeys tall, while the left side has a projecting 19th-century wing that is 1½ storeys. The earlier brickwork is laid in English bond. The right gable end has two 18th-century segmental-headed cross windows with gauged brick arches. There is a first-floor string course and an early 19th-century two-light wrought iron casement window with a segmental-headed gauged brick arch and tie plates on either side. A small similar window is located in the gable.

The central part of the right side features a 20th-century door set in the original 18th-century door opening, with a 20th-century segmental-headed two-light casement window to the right. The first floor has another early 19th-century two-light wrought iron casement window. The left wing includes 20th-century two-light casement windows on either side of wide French windows, along with a 19th-century three-light casement window in a sloping dormer above. The roofs are half-hipped.
